second floor suite that overlooks Taos and has a magnificent
view of the sacred Taos Mountain. One can relax and enjoy spectacular
sunsets and cool summer evenings from the sundeck and portal.
The walls are filled with paintings by local artists. Hand-carved
posts inlaid with lapis lazuli and pipe stone adorn the queen-size
bed. A loft to the rear has two single beds and a queen-size
sofa bed is also available for additional guests . An Indian-made
adobe fireplace and private hot tub set the mood for a romantic
getaway. Shower, no bathtub. Please note that this room is accessed
via an outside spiral staircase.

A
ground floor suite that dates back to the mid-nineteenth century,
with adobe walls two feet thick, vigas, latillas and much local
charm. The atmosphere is tranquil and serene, and features artwork
in a floral theme. One of Mabel Dodges original paintings
adorns the bedroom and her colorful door, painted by Gisella
Loeffler, graces the sitting room. The bedroom has a queen-size
bed, and in the adjacent sitting room, a queen-size sofa bed
is also available. A gas fireplace and jacuzzi bath with shower
are included.

La Luz
Up
two flights of stairs there is a little gem, a real hide-away.
One can see the sacred mountain while lying in bed, and from
the tiny living room, the mountains to the east. It is light,
airy and economical. This room has a low ceiling, so guests staying
there should be no more than 6' 2" tall! Double bed, tub
with shower. Note: Stairs are narrow and steep.

large second floor suite offering a spectacular view of the sacred
Taos Mountain to the north and sunrise to the east. Two queen-size
beds with coverlets hand-embroidered in the traditional New Mexican
colcha stitch and a queen-size sofa bed in the sitting room welcome
the traveling family and couples alike. Adorned with original
artwork featuring the Madonna and child, it is dedicated to the
love and security provided by mothers everywhere. In the bedroom,
a large adobe corner fireplace lends warmth and atmosphere. A
jacuzzi bathtub with showerand all modern comforts are provided
for your enjoyment. Please note that this room is accessed via
an outside spiral staircase.

El Sol
A
warm and happy room, singing in hues of yellows and blues. Located
on the ground floor and furnished in a simple southwestern style,
it features some of Taos' finest contemporary artists' work.
The massive adobe fireplace is both practical and decorative.
A large skylight allows the sun's rays to play on the walls and
at night the room is bathed in moonlight. A jacuzzi bathtub with
shower is welcome after a day on the slopes or sightseeing. Queen-size
bed and daybed included.

The Kit Carson Room
Named
in honor of one of the best known figures of the "Old West",
this rustic ground floor suite features artwork and artifacts
from days gone by. An antique potbelly stove adds warmth and
atmosphere to the sitting room, while the bedroom features an
adobe corner fireplace and a queen-size bed, crafted from pine
logs. The bathroom has a claw-foot tub with shower and pedestal
sink from the Maxwell House in the old Ghost town of Maxwell,
New Mexico. This room may be haunted as we have had many reports
from guests, but from all accounts, it is a benign presence.

Nina Cristina
Located
off the patio of the historic El Rincon Trading Post and Museum,
behind a portal with hand-carved posts and corbels, this elegant
ground floor suite is rich in shades of burgundy, yellow, and
forest green. "I was born in this room on Epiphany 1936,
during the Buffalo Dance at Taos Pueblo", relates Nina.
Later, it became world famous as "Frenchys La Doña
Luz Restaurant", where Chef Theodore "Frenchy"
Hutton delighted patrons with fine gourmet dining, previously
unkown in this remote mountain village. It features a private
hot tub, a queen bed, a double bed, and an Indian-made adobe
fireplace. Tub with shower.

of the building, where La Doña Luz Lucero de Martinez
resided in the mid-1800's. Its lovely and luxurious with
fine artwork, hand-hewn corbels and beams by Ralph Meyers, murals
by Anne Forbes and woodwork by Jonathan Waugh. Look through fine
lace curtains at Kit Carsons home across the street. Featuring
a Private hot tub, king-size bed, single sofa bed, kitchenette,
colorful tile shower, washer and dryer. May experience some street
noise.

Yellow Bird Deer Room
Yellow
Bird Deer, or in Tiwa, Too-Shkool-Moe-Pay-Na is owner Paul Castillos
Indian name. A colorful and cozy ground floor suite that opens
onto a flower filled patio. Decorated in a Native American theme,
it features Plains Indian beadwork, Hopi Kachinas, Navajo rugs,
Pueblo pottery and fine artwork. In the corner of the sitting
room is an Indian-made adobe fireplace. A king-size bed and jacuzzi
bathtub with shower are included.

A

a collection of angels from around the world and furnished with
hand-carved New Mexican furniture. Through an adobe arch is a

The Santiago Room

touch of "Old World" Spain. Named for Santiago or Saint
James, who is the patron saint of both Spain and Taos, this lovely
second floor room is decorated with antique art, artifacts and
furniture from Spain and Old Mexico. It gives one a feeling of
quiet elegance. Enjoy mountain views to the north and east. A
King-size bed, an adobe corner fireplace, and jacuzzi bathtub
with shower are included.

Featuring
artwork by early Taos artist, Gisella Loeffler, this sunny second
floor room brims over with color and whimsey. The bedroom walls,
door and fireplace were decoratively painted by Nina, whose style
was greatly influenced by Gisella. A queen-size canopy bed with
a colorful hand embroidered bedspread imparts a sense of comfort
and security. The bathroom is a real surprise.....a custom tile
mural depicting the Garden of Eden wraps around a jacuzzi bathtub
with shower for two and a floor to ceiling mural by Kristine
Keheley completes the scene.

The Rainbow Room
A
richly decorated second floor penthouse suite with a loft and
balcony offering a view to the south, east and west. Enjoy the
view of the surrounding mountains and downtown area from the
private sundeck with hot tub located on top of the third story.....
hot tub under the stars year round! The high ceiling with massive
vigas and color washed latillas inspire a sense of harmony and
grandeur. Pauls grandfather, Ralph Meyers, created a similar
ceiling for Mabel Dodge Luhans house in the 1920's. Resplendent
with fine art, Indian and Spanish artifacts, this room is perfect
for those wishing to experience the best of "Old Taos".
Two Indian-made fireplaces, one in the sitting area, the other
on the loft at the foot of the bed, suggest an atmosphere of
warmth and romance. The staircases, cabinets, doors and furniture
are hand-crafted in the northern New Mexican tradition. A king-size
bed, full kitchen, dining area, tub with shower and laundry facility
are provided for your comfort and convenience. Stairs accessing
the rooftop sundeck are very steep, requiring a reasonable level
of physical fitness.

Rowenas Room

quiet, sunny, ground floor room with private patio, in the rearmost
part of the building. Features artwork by Gisella Loeffler, a
lifelong friend of Ninas mother, Rowena. The queen-size
bed once belonged to Brigham Young during the Mormons brief stay
in Colorado and was acquired by Rowenas late husband Ralph
Meyers around the turn of the century. An Indian-made adobe fireplace,
a daybed and jacuzzi bathtub with shower are included.
